It's always unsettling to watch our children suffer, no matter where their pain is coming from. It’s our natural instinct, as their parents, to free them from any pain, even though we know that's impossible. The best thing we can do is to be there for our children. Sit with them, hug them, listen to them and make sure they’re moving forward.
My findings can be summarized in seven words: Homework is all pain and no gain. The pain is obvious to kids but isn't always taken seriously by adults. Backpacks stuffed with assignments leave students exhausted, frustrated, less interested in intellectual pursuits and lacking time to do things they enjoy.

Estrangement hurts. We are, after all, social creatures and want to be close to others. Feeling rejected, misunderstood or cast outside the family circle seems to diminish us at our core.

It also results in emotional exhaustion and loss of interest in studies. Too much homework not only exerts negative effects on the child, but also on the entire family.
Conflicts among family members, or between a family member and a key non-family manager, often start small and are fed by avoidance over time. That’s bad for the relationship and bad for the business. When family members don’t get along, advisors can unwittingly fuel avoidance by erring in one of two directions: over-involvement or abdication.
